Hello Gang,Last week I received great news , a paying job in Bristol. Followed immediately by an e-mail telling me that Leo Devine, had a Heart attack and was in a serious condition. I put off notifying everyone about the job until we found out the condition of Leo. Well it appears that Leo is doing fine as on his way to total recovery. So back to business. The Bristol Historical Society has hired us to do our thing on October 18, 2008, for The Historical Bristol Day Celebration wich involves us playing at the Bristol Wharf and a short parade from the Wharf up Radcliffe Street to Mulberry Street which is about a block to a block and a half. There are a few details to be worked out which I hope we can do at our next practice on September 28. What I need now is a commitment from all of you. We have to make a great impression if we want to keep getting payed to perform, receive grant monies and future jobs. I believe it all depends on this one day and the conditions are perfect for us to be able to do it. We are a alumni corps and there for all volunteers. So I need to here from you to tell me that you will be able to make it on October 18, or not. I need to know by the September 28, practice. However the sooner the better. You all have my phone number or e-mail address. But just in case. (732) 280-3632, or e-mail: jimsandyklug@aol.com
GO BRACKEN - WE ARE BACK....
05/26/08
My Bracken Brethren I would like to express the pride I felt marching in a Bracken uniform again. It was an honor to play down the street with a group that wanted to make this as great as possible, give our sponsor a good presentation, and for the love of it. We made an excellent presentation, plus we had a good time.I’ll march in the Black & Orange any day with this group.Thank you all for the privilege.PJBracken ‘99

Sunday feb. 17th we will have practice from 12-4 at the Senior Citizen Center. Bring a friend!
Our website has seen some growing pains. We were moved to another server and some of the
pages were not working. I have brought some of the things back and in much better working condition.
We should like the new Photo Gallery and Guestbook(this one is just for you Bert ).
The Photo Gallery has a slideshow option that all should enjoy.
The Contact Us page is still a mystery but by next week all should be well.
OK, off to learn more snare parts...stop reading and get your music out.
see you next week

In case you haven't heard or checked our web site,We had to move practice for December 16th.
We will be practicing from 1 to 4 PM at the Grundy Skating Rink on Beaver Street (No skates required or long underwear either)
we will be in two of there meeting rooms. For those of you who do not call Bristol home the
Skating Rink is located at the end of Beaver Street , just before Pond Street.
If you come into Bristol on Pond Street (Old Rt.13) stay on Pond Street past the Senior 's center and make the 1st.
Left turn onto Beaver Street. The Skating Rink is on the Right.
If you come by way of the PA Turnpike and go south on Rt.13 and turn left at the 1st.
Traffic Light which is Beaver Street. go to the end of Beaver Street just before the traffic light at Pond Street
turn left into the Skating Rink Parking Lot.
The skating Rink is well lit and you can see it from the Senior Centers parking lot.
The good news is thanks to Art Younglove and a lot of his leg work we will have the Bristol Seniors Center next year.
Art has or will deliver our monthly schedule to the new director who said she has no problems with us meeting there in
2008. It looks like we have a home and a Drum & Bugle Corps. Please come out to practice lets keep this thing going.

Hi guys: Just adding to Director Jim Klug's recent communication
and the effort to keep this Alumni Corps moving, all I feel is needed
is more people, and I know it's out there. I see a lot of effort and
desire being put forth by the approximate 10-14 horns showing up
at each rehearsal, and all that they need to make this work is very
simple...........more people sitting in and playing!
Don't be concerned about loss of lip, that will come back more
quickly than you think. Likewise , don't be concerned about
multi valve horns that might be "different", also don't be concerned
that you must "read" music to take part. I promise you that any
previously used horn that the corps already possesses, or one that
you might own, as long as it can be tuned, can be used. One, or two
valve, valve and rotary, whatever you are comfortable with, is perfectly OK.
Hey, if you can't read music, that's OK too. You can be taught and learn
the music as done previously, and I know many of you guys never read
a note of music yet still were very successful in earlier years. I taught
Bracken from 1959 through 1971,and I saw many, many excellent horn
players come through the ranks. Why not give it a shot again, I will
provide all the assistance I'm physically able to provide. So little time
is required, ......get your buddies together, and let's do it!!!!
Sincerely, Bob Adair

GREETINGS - You have located our web-site.
On behalf of the Bracken Cadets I would like to welcome you.
I saw in a previously asked question that some people think we
may be an exclusive organization. This is not the case, yes some
of us have been here for a long time but others have joined us for
the first time. This includes members of other corps both past and
present and some young people who are here for the first time.
This is exactly the way we planned it. Our dream is to put the
Bracken Cavaliers back on the streets marching in parades,
doing shows and what ever comes up that we agree on.
You are all welcome to come out and join us, no previous
experience is necessary. Or you can just watch us and remind
us of how it used to be.
As the famous Bristol sign reads "Welcome Friend".

Great practice with horns and drums. 9 horns, 3 snares ,2 tenors, 2 bass drums, triples and a soon to be cymbal. And bodies to play the things too! :) We welcome everyone to grab a drum, pick-up a horn and have some fun at the next practice Sept, 16th....
08/05/07
Well the new drums and horns are in along with some "new used" horns. What we really need now are old school drum corps bodies and any others to get behind those horns and belt out a Bob Adair composition. I know you want to,and if you physically can't play just come out and rekindle old friendships and support our efforts.
Practices are as follows; Aug.19, Sept.16, Oct. 14, Nov.25 & Dec.16 starting at 1pm doors open at noon. See ya there...Jack Jr.
07/19/07
Sunday July 29th will be the next get-together for Bracken. The new drums are in, 10 snares, triple, bass drum and if I am not mistaken a few new horns are in, sopranos, baritones and maybe mellophones.
Bob Adair is now involved and all alumni are welcome to get things rolling and learn a few tunes. Come on down and mingle with your old friends and see if you still have IT...:).
See ya, Jack Jr

Just a few quick notes. Reading Bucs have been contacted to see if they have any horns available for purchase.
Rohm and Haas Community Partnership Initiative (CPI) has sent our application to the next stage.
And I forgot the beginning of the drum solo :)
NEWSLETTER 03/11/07
For my first installment, let me first introduce myself. My name is Jack Cassidy, no not the original one banging on the orange, clear plastic snare. I am his son.
For the last few months Bracken has been gathering alumni to participate in a re-introduction of The Bracken Cavaliers. To ad to our efforts, the American Legion has contributed $20,000 for equipment purchases. We do have Stingray snares and tenors, black in color, to help tool the drum line.
Currently, I believe we have 4 snares, 3 tenors, a couple bass/cymbals. There is a count for the horn line & color guard, but at this time I am not sure how many.
We welcome all past members to come back and have some fun. “fun” is the key word for this adventure. No pressure, no back breaking routine, just past members and new members enjoying what we “so loved” in the past.
Practice will be held at the Lower Bucks Co. Senior Citizens Center, Wood St., Bristol on March 25th, Sunday from 1pm to 4pm. Show up early and see who you might bump into.
List of future practices; April 29, May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19
